I love the energy and effects. You controlled my feelings so well! At the beginning there was a climax, and at :16 everything just exploded! The emotion is amazing! You should definitely keep working on this. I'm thinking maybe :46 would function as a sort of break-down, and then you could lead in to a refrain and coda with a similar transition as in the beginning. It's so engaging and catchy! While not complete, it immediately caught my attention. Please do us all a favor and finish this track! :D

Lockyn responds:

wow o____o thank you so much for your review. you made my day! I will definitely try and finish this as fast as possible. and "us"? I had no idea there were that many people listening to my music LOL. thanks though, will definitely get the finished product to your ears you awesome person you. cheers!

You certainly succeeded in telling a story! :) Your melodies are always so engaging, DylnMatrix, and I appreciate the constant variation. Your transitions were good, too: 2:06, for example. Around 2:50 and at other parts of the song, it felt a little too "busy" for me, though- I think it was mostly due to that open hat. I can't help mentioning that you've used some of those riffs and instruments before, like the drum at 5:24. Btw, don't feel like you need a track to be 7 minutes long in order to tell a story- you only need to make it as long as it takes to be epic, and you've done that for me a number of times now in under 2 minutes! ^^ I like your style, DylnMatrix, and the ending was interesting and creative. Keep it up! I'll be waiting for more. :)

Dylnmatrix responds:

Thanks! I'm glad you liked the track, and I always try to have great melodies in my tracks. Glad to know I've succeeded again. And yay, I have my own style now~ lol

I get what you mean by having it feel too busy. I was having trouble with finding a good hi hat sample that fit the track, as I'm poor and only have stock samples. I'm thinking I over compressed the hat, and that's why it kind of takes over. And I suck at mixing, I've still got a lot to learn.

As for the track being 7 minutes long, when I went into the "trance" (haha, see what I did there?) I get into when I get a boost of inspiration, all 7 minutes that I sequenced were just what my mind felt was necessary. I know I can create some good stories in a track that's shorter, just my mind felt this one needed to be longer.

And yeeaaaah, I really need to branch out with my riffs/synths more. But I'm keeping my syncopated "driving" melodies until I can't make them anymore. Those are always the most fun, albeit easiest, to make. Ain't nobody taking that away from me. Except maybe Clayfacer, as he's the one who got me into that kind of melody.

Anywho, thanks for the review! It always makes me feel better about myself when someone is willing to take time out of their day to listen to my music AND tell me what they think. Thanks.

Cool! :) I like the beat at the beginning and the mellow little melody. Loops really well, too! The drum at :39 and 1:17 felt a little too "busy" for me compared with the really relaxed background. Still, I admire the simplicity and it is very engaging and catchy in general. Good job! :)

Thanks for the support!

The intro was smooth and dreamy, but I think you use those fade-in and fade-out beginnings/ endings a lot. Maybe you could vary that a little. I liked how it was so bassy and catchy. A little repetitive, and, personally, progressive trance isn't my favorite genre, but i felt this one! I like what you did with the instrument at 1:35. It flowed really well. It's emotional and it has form, both of which I love in trance! It's not really my style, but as far as I'm concerned, this could be front page material! Great job! :)

SynchroSpectre responds:

LOL, what kind of beginnings/endings would you like to hear :3? I liked that you liked my effect thing at 1:35, that was a little trick I learned from Deadmau5, with the cutoffs and watchamacallits...

This melody of this song was from this song:

(remove spaces, if any)
I did a little modifications to the melody and did my own pattern, I really liked the melody and I need that melody out of my head :P

(btw, i didn't use headphones while making this cuz im grounded)

It's catchy and creepy! :) A little repetitive and short, but I'm assuming you'll upload the full version later. The instruments really added to the ominous theme. I especially like the melody and string-like instrument that comes in toward the end. Sounds a lot like hip-hop to me...I'm interested to see how you fit some bass drops in. I'm intrigued! Good job. ;)

Creativ3 responds:

Thank you for the review! I did a little work on it, new version up. Check it out!

The busy beat at the beginning was...interesting, to say the least. The transition at :22 felt a little rough, and I agree that the snare that comes in at :45 is a little strange. I have to say, though, I love how it was relaxed, yet climactic. The melody is really engaging and the effects you have in there add a lot to the piece. It did get a little repetitive, but the ambient nature of it makes up for that. Personally, I don't like fade-out endings, but I really felt the melody and the beat. I can't believe you're only 15! You have a bright future in front of you, my friend. :D

SynchroSpectre responds:

Yep, I'm 15, started when I was 13 and I will keep going...

I'm not with D&B transitions and I was completely drained out of ideas. This song was kind of like... I was in a adrenaline rush when making this -_-, I rushed making this song and the melody came out of nowhere, so yeah...

THANKS HOMIE

It's so relaxed and moody! I like the instruments and melody, too, and it loops well. Maybe it's a little repetitive, but I understand that ambient loops are used more as background music than anything else. One thing I didn't like was the effect/instrument at :07, :24, :49, and 1:01. It didn't seem relevant to me, and I don't think it added anything to the piece. Still, I like the simplicity of it and the great emotion that can come from that simplicity! Keep up the good work! :)

mistarogerz responds:

Good review! I will take your advice and make better things. I'm glad you felt the emotion.

Yeah! :D So bass-y and moody, I love it! The drums are really original and catchy, and it's so climactic! Awesome! Excellent choice of instruments, and it loops really well. The melody was engrossing, btw. It really engraves an image of passing time on my mind as well. Amazing work! :D

mistarogerz responds:

Fantastic. It brings me pleasure to think that random strangers were "engrossed" By this loop! Thanks for the review!

Like the clubbish-style intro, but it was a little too long. That bassline at :42 I feel like I've heard a million times before, and it got a little repetitive, but I like what you did with the song at 1:37 with the different-sounding melody. I like how you kept the energy up and added some more layers to it later on, and I like the melodic section at 2:59. Your transitions in general were okay, maybe a little cliche, but progressive trance isn't my favorite genre, so I understand. ;) I like the melodic twist you put on the bassline towards the end, and the ending in general was nice and tranquil. Hope I didn't come across as too critical- maybe this piece just isn't my style- but good work overall. :)

Dj-B345T responds:

Thanks for the review.

1. Yeah, the bassline might be a little cliche, but I think that it fits the genre pretty well and I really like the 8 bar length instead of the usual 4.

2. The melodic sections are actually my favorite parts of this song to be honest, that is why I had 3 of them including the ending.

Thanks again for the review, I hope you check out some of my other tracks and give me your advice/opinions on those as well.

Beautiful chords at the beginning. They really caught my attention! You used beautiful instruments in general! Wow! The transition at :54 was a little rough for me, but the part after that was good itself. Maybe a more gradual transition is suitable there. In general, excellent melodies and emotion. The effect at 3:28 was a nice touch, btw. I think you could've ended it better, however. I'm not a big fan of the fade-out endings- they never really add anything to a piece in my opinion. Anyway, in general, it's so emotional and warm, yet also rather engaging and ambitious. Excellent work! :D

ErikMcClure responds:

I very rarely use fade out endings, but in this case everything else just didn't feel right, especially because it fades in at the beginning. I did have most of the instruments terminate before the fade out, however.

I'm surprised you don't like the transition at 0:54, since it was carefully crafted and no one else has complained about it. I kind of wanted it to be a bit rough because its supposed to bring in some contrast so the entire song isn't just boring.
