Really interesting...I like the instruments and melodies. You incorporated the speech well, however in general I don't usually like spoken words used in excess in a song...but that's just me. I'm not sure how the speech relates to the "buttery epic popcorn" theme, but after :22 the song was pretty catchy and well-structured. Loops well too. Good job! ^^

The speech from Robert Frost just felt right at the time. However, in retrospect "What the Hell was I thinking when naming this thing Buttery Epic Popcorn?"

Classic DlynMatrix-style track! ^^ The instruments and melody are always so engaging, and I love the beat and the emotional quality of it. 4:43 was a pleasant surprise! You've definitely mastered trance, but have you considered experimenting with some other genres? I think that might be a good next step for you, Matt. Anyway, awesome track. I especially like what you did with the ending of this one. It was relaxed, but also mysterious! Keep up the good work, man! :D

Dylnmatrix responds:

Thanks man!

I'm so glad that you're able to hear the emotional quality I try and put into my tracks. It means a lot to see that at least one person is able to hear it.

And key-changes always make things more interesting. Don't know why, but they do. Once I learn more music theory and more about key signatures, I'm sure I could make some pretty darn interesting tracks.

I have most definitely considered starting to experiment with other genres. I'm not sure what genres yet, but the one I really want to try is complextro. I think I'd have a lot of fun over the possible frustrations of learning it. In fact, I might try my hand in as many electronic genres as I can, as electronic music is what I really grew up with and it has always interested me. I may even delve into some classical sometime in the future. Who knows? The possibilities with music are endless.

I thought I'd also mention that seeing the phrase "Classic DylnMatrix-style track!" made me giddy as all get out. Thanks~

Wow, it's so unique! The ominous beginning and cool instruments immediately engaged me, and I love the moodiness of it. Everything flows so nicely, and I like how you end it the way it begins. One suggestion I would make is that if you want it to loop, you should cut out the 6-8 seconds of silence you have at the end there. Other than that, awesome job! This really caught and kept my attention well! :)

Thanks for your review. Glad you enjoyed the track !

I like the dreamy intro, but I think you made it too long, and the transition at 1:11 is a little sudden. I like the instruments, though, and the melody. It's upbeat and catchy. I like the ending, too. Overall, a nice feel-good sort of piece. Keep up the good work! :)

Zinitymusic responds:

Thank you! :-)

I had to think a lot about this one before reviewing it. It's dry and dull, yet interesting. It's mellow and relaxing, yet there's not a lot of depth in it. I like the instruments. I like the harmonies. I think it doesn't lead much of anywhere- there's the same level of intensity throughout the piece. Maybe you could try giving it more emotional/ dynamic contrast. It ends pretty suddenly. I think it needs a little more form. It's probably one of the most unique pieces I've ever reviewed on NG. It has potential. I encourage you to keep working on it. :)

Merpy responds:

Ok thank you
and yeah I'll keep working on it
i was trying to keep it simple
so i can spend more time on learning how to make instruments

It's really upbeat and engaging. Excellent choice of instruments. Maybe a little repetitive, and I think you overused that snare a bit, there. It did loop well, but I thought that between 2:16 and :03 (once it looped again) there were two transitions, which kind of threw me off. I think you have all the stylistic makings of a good artist, but I'd like to see an original by you. Good work overall. I prefer originals, but this caught my attention. Keep up the good work! ;)

EliteFerrex responds:

I may have overused the snare a little, yes. >.<; But, nonetheless, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I love the form and style of this piece. It's really catchy and relaxed. At points it verges on repetitive, but it is basically an 80-second loop that loops twice, am I right? It does loop well, btw, and it's okay if songs this engaging are a little repetitive. I really felt this one, Synthapse. Good job! :)

Synthapse responds:

thanks bro glad you enjoyed it!

I liked the beat around :25, but a lot of the instruments you used were really distorted and echo-y, and I didn't like that. I think it needs to have more flow. The transition at :47 was a little too sudden for me, but after that it got better with the unique beat and the chill melody. I think you should keep working on it. It seems incomplete to me- inconclusive. Sorry. I've been tough on you. It's still worth a revisit in my opinion, though. You should keep working on it. You can do it! :)

NomadFixbot responds:

Thanks a lot for the criticism. I've never been a very good producer but sometimes I just have to get ideas out of my head. I'll keep working on this one.

It's really relaxing and dreamy, but the crash and drums kind of ruined the mood for me. I like how you made it evolve into a more intense song, but I think the drums should still mirror the mood of the rest of the piece at all times. The emotion is good, and 2:17 was a highlight for me! I didn't like the transition at 2:51 so much, though- it seemed a bit sudden. The way it ended was a bit sudden, too. It's definitely a good start, but I think you should make it a bit smoother- it needs to flow more. Otherwise, love the instruments and feeling you put into it! Keep working on it! ;)

JayenareMusic responds:

Thanks man. I see what you're saying. The song was meant to start mellow and get more intense. Thisis actually a very very old piece. I just made a few adjustments and posted it. I was sick of seeing it on my project list.

It's catchy and I like the instruments, but it starts out way too slow. I feel like the part at 1:54 should come about 30 seconds into the song, max. After that, it was pretty engaging and energetic, and I liked the breakdown at 3:13, but the lack of variation at the beginning was a huge drawback for me. I'm sorry. Maybe progressive trance just isn't my style, but I think you can bring out that energy even more. You could try increasing the tempo a little and making the bass a little heavier. Other than that, it's pretty good, and I liked how you ended it. You should keep working on it. :)

TjpjMusic responds:

Thanks for the feedback :)
