School starts around the beginning of August for me, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to do well. I'll try to join, but if I in the midst of the competition see, that I can't do it as well as my school work, I'll DM you (OP) to let you know that I'm dropping out.

@TaintedLogic i don't really have a specific example, but it's basically like this: i own a couple of nintendo ds games, and with specific programs i managed to rip the instrument samples from them and use them in some of my songs. i haven't seen enough examples of video game soundfonts used in songs on this site to determine what the rules behind this would be, but i assume they're very loose considering the games i've ripped instruments from all have soundtracks without official commercial releases. i make sure to put full instrument source lists in the descriptions of all of my songs, if that information helps any.

Okay. Thanks for your response. Honestly, it sounds like that wouldn't really fly in the NGUAC. I'm looking at a section of the audio portal guidelines (https://www.newgrounds.com/wiki/help-information/terms-of-use/audio-guidelines) that says "You aren't allowed to have ANY copyrighted samples in your song. Not even a millisecond. Movie quotes, game sound effects, acapellas of popular singers, etc. have a VERY good chance of being copyrighted." The burden is going to be on you to demonstrate that you have permission to use whatever samples you're using. Even the language of "ripping" the samples from videogames suggests to me that what you're doing doesn't really vibe with the spirit of the competition. Sorry if that sounds strict, but the point is that you should probably submit something to the contest that doesn't use the samples you're talking about. Thanks again!
