Ooo...even more changes to the AP

Posted by TaintedLogic - December 12th, 2017

Things I like:

- DARNELL IS BACK! Holy shit, yes. Cuz sometimes submissions are perfectly described as "butterscotch," y'know?

- Track time is featured again. This change wasn't exactly one of the big ones that got implemented yesterday (I think they put it back in a few weeks ago), but I can't stress enough how important it is for reviewers. Having the time there just makes it so much easier to make both criticism and praise as specific and helpful as possible.

- The suggested songs list has authors and the CD logo thing now. I approve. I think this a great way of making people more likely to click on these, myself included.

Things I don't:

- Maybe I was just confused, but the songs have a lot of trouble loading on my phone for whatever reason.

- The stars are a little out of whack right now. It seems like they rounded everything down to the nearest star...which isn't a huge problem, I guess, because the actual number is still there.

- THE BIG ONE: you can't see the listens and downloads each submission has. As a total stat geek myself, I find this morbidly depressing. And no, I don't just care about my own submissions. I'm genuinely interested in how many people listen to and download the songs I listen to.

What do you guys think?

I pretty much stopped caring about this audio portal. I find chipscompo to be a much better platform.

;_;

Sigh, @johnfn would be disappointed, @BlueOceans.

The biggest problem with the AP for me right now is that on mobile, none of the songs load at all. I could be there waiting for hours, but the actual waveform won't be there. It just stays showing the Loading symbol. On PC and Mac it's perfectly fine.

I've totally had the same problem, yeah! Hopefully they're working on it...

I haven't really come across any loading issues on my mobile, interestingly enough. Hopefully you guys can have a smoother experience soon. Tracks are loading and playing beautifully on my cell, and the new search options make finding a specific song or artist quick and easy.

Having time stamps is of course a vital feature when it comes to giving feedback, so that was my main issue...which has now been rectified. It's also pretty cool to see Darnell on the Audio Portal voting buttons, where he belongs. The new look of the pages is very sleek, both familiar and fresh, though it took them a while to get over there since Games, Movies, and Art always take precedence. C'est la vie.

The thing with the stars is bugging me, but they've never really been what I'd call "on point." Half a star has always looked more like one third, so maybe that will be upgraded further. But yeah, seeing a track with a score like 4.97 being downgraded to just four stars is something of a travesty. Hopefully that will be amended soon. The stats seem to have returned however, so huzzah! :D

CONSPIRACY: I KILLED DA PORTAL AND IT WAS ALL ON MEEEEE!

(i neither confirm nor deny this)

@Troisnyx I think there was a huge misunderstanding here, and it's partly my fault for not being careful with my phrasing. I don't hate the audio portal community, nor do I have anything against participating in the events. I was simply expressing frustration with all the new changes that have been implemented recently. The implication that I was done with the website refers to the fact that I can't listen to music on newgrounds from my phone anymore, which is how I've been doing it for years.

You know, @BlueOceans, I've been having the same trouble. The least you could have done was mention @TomFulp like so because if more people bring it to his attention, at least we will know at what stage the repairs to the AP are at.
