@TaintedLogic At best… AT BEST I make middle top in the tryout round (in the loss section). Let’s remember I use FL Mobile (yes I have a laptop now, and am planning on getting the real Fl) but my best comes from FL Mobile since I’m most experienced with it, a DAW with low production quality, largely limited, and has very low quality samples. EQ and multiband were small steps, shuffles even lol.
last year, I lost, while having an interest in this competition, but now I'm very lazy, lol, while having a better skill in music now. I hope that I will think about participating in this contest.
Thinking about trying this competition, but I’m not sure I can produce a song in 2 weeks anymore… my style has gotten so complicated and SunVox is a hassle sometimes. I will probably still make an effort though!

Hello. Not sure if I'll participate but I'd like to reiterate my second question from last year just in case anything has changed in that regard, i.e; is breakbeat sampling still a grey area and therefore more or less okay if you are creative enough with it?
Just making sure I don't get immediately disqualified if I do decide to try my luck again this year.
Yeah, my answer is pretty much the same as last year. According to the rules: "songs that use pre-made drum loops...will be accepted on a case-by-case basis," but I'm probably not actually going to disqualify you for using pre-made drum loops unless they're copyrighted. Otherwise, whether and how much you are docked for lack of originality is at the discretion of the judges. I'd encourage you to post where the samples are from in the author's description, just in case questions arise from the judges.

For the first round, it can be a cover of a song by another artist, yes. But for the second and third rounds, you'll be expected to make an original song. Thanks for asking!

I couldn't find any strict rules about having to make entries specifically for this contest. For every single round, we have to or don't have to make entries specifically for this contest?
Thanks for asking. It's totally fine if you want to also upload the song to YouTube, Soundcloud, Bandcamp, etc., or even submit it to other contests, whether on Newgrounds or otherwise. For the first round, you can upload a piece you made years ago for an entirely different purpose. Just don't include any copyrighted samples or submit a collab if you're entering as a solo artist. If you make it to future rounds, you'll be expected to make a new piece from scratch entirely within the timeframe of the round, which is about two weeks. Let me know if you have any more questions. :)
