Not bad! The animation is a bit crude, although I like the plot, and the music fits in well. I think the park/city main street scenery is drawn particularly well. Keep it up, flashmakeit! :)

flashmakeit responds:

Okay, enjoy your day

Awesome! Love your self-deprecating sense of humor here and all the different badger lore elements. I remember jamming out to the original badger animation when I was a schoolboy. To think it's been 20 years since it came out is crazy, haha. Rock on, Weebl! ^_^

Disturbing and dystopian. The music really helps set the mood too. Not sure I like the pixelated quality of the animation, but the vivid imagery (puzzle pieces, militaristic marching of the characters, etc.) comes through well regardless. Happy birthday!

Cute game! Thematic content is fun, and I like the music and story at the beginning. The concept is a bit simple, and the picture could be a little less pixel-y, but it also gives the animation a fun retro vibe. Keep at it, Nick et al! :)

Great game! The original made my year in 6th grade, and this game is both similar enough in format to rekindle that nostalgia while it's different enough in the strategy and mechanics required to win to keep it interesting. Nice work! Maybe I'll even go to MaxGames later to try it on impossible mode. :)

Hilarious! Music is a great touch too. Perhaps there could've been a bit more to it, but it was good for some brief entertainment. Good luck with your future projects, Angela!

I like the rich, tranquil pads at the beginning and the prominent drums. The playful piano and airy synths really contrast nicely with the heavy rhythmic elements here. I also really like the minimal pads at the breakdown at 1:34 or so - I can definitely hear the influence from Thorn and other tracks of yours, both in terms of harmonies and sound design. The dreamy ambiance at 2:50 probably constitutes my favorite aspect of the piece. In fact, the whole piece sounds like drifting in and out of sleep despite the anxieties of the coming day, and towards the end I finally let the shut-eye take over. ^_^ Keep at it, LLAAPPSSEE!

I like the ominous vibe at the beginning. Sounds more tranquil than creepy, though. There was a nice injection of energy at :32, although the percussive hits on the off-beats starting at :47 take up a bit too much space in the mix IMO. I would've loved to hear some more variety in the harmonies at some point, but you definitely flesh out the rhythmic elements effectively with the syncopations at 2:08 and 3:10. I will confess that once the texture gets as dense as it does towards the end of the piece, the drums don't feel as overpowering. :D Overall, really evocative stuff here, Midi! I envision an introverted ghost who gets invited to a dance party and ends up having a good time. ^^

Love the gritty bass and quirky lead. Sounds very retro indeed. The ghostly melodies and rich harmonies really hit the spot - has a really triumphant feel to it overall. I'd love to see a full version of this sometime. Cheers! ^_^

I love the abstract root-like structures in the sky and the nod to chemical symbols on the ground. The eye-like structures on the hand give this an eerie veneer, and the coloration is further reminiscent of something toxic and sinister. I also like the textural details on the hand. Really evocative work.

Also, I appreciate your profile's references to Infinite Jest. :)

Nice! I keep forgetting you make art too, CG. This is really well-designed, from her outfit to the typography. How did you make the barcode in the lower-right corner? The curve of her mouth seems a unnatural to me somehow, but maybe that was intentional. Texture in the clouds and waves is a really nice touch. Keep it up! ^^

Oh man, that's a throwback. Really nice job mimicking the original - without Googling it, I can't think of how the character as drawn on the show is substantively different in any way. The backdrop with the XJ9 poster is a nice touch too, although part of me isn't a big fan of how the poster is just a slightly different shade of the same color. Still, it's a cool image with a clean finish. Keep it up!
