It's catchy and creepy! :) A little repetitive and short, but I'm assuming you'll upload the full version later. The instruments really added to the ominous theme. I especially like the melody and string-like instrument that comes in toward the end. Sounds a lot like hip-hop to me...I'm interested to see how you fit some bass drops in. I'm intrigued! Good job. ;)

Thank you for the review! I did a little work on it, new version up. Check it out!

The busy beat at the beginning was...interesting, to say the least. The transition at :22 felt a little rough, and I agree that the snare that comes in at :45 is a little strange. I have to say, though, I love how it was relaxed, yet climactic. The melody is really engaging and the effects you have in there add a lot to the piece. It did get a little repetitive, but the ambient nature of it makes up for that. Personally, I don't like fade-out endings, but I really felt the melody and the beat. I can't believe you're only 15! You have a bright future in front of you, my friend. :D

SynchroSpectre responds:

Yep, I'm 15, started when I was 13 and I will keep going...

I'm not with D&B transitions and I was completely drained out of ideas. This song was kind of like... I was in a adrenaline rush when making this -_-, I rushed making this song and the melody came out of nowhere, so yeah...

THANKS HOMIE

It's so relaxed and moody! I like the instruments and melody, too, and it loops well. Maybe it's a little repetitive, but I understand that ambient loops are used more as background music than anything else. One thing I didn't like was the effect/instrument at :07, :24, :49, and 1:01. It didn't seem relevant to me, and I don't think it added anything to the piece. Still, I like the simplicity of it and the great emotion that can come from that simplicity! Keep up the good work! :)

Good review! I will take your advice and make better things. I'm glad you felt the emotion.

Yeah! :D So bass-y and moody, I love it! The drums are really original and catchy, and it's so climactic! Awesome! Excellent choice of instruments, and it loops really well. The melody was engrossing, btw. It really engraves an image of passing time on my mind as well. Amazing work! :D

Fantastic. It brings me pleasure to think that random strangers were "engrossed" By this loop! Thanks for the review!

Like the clubbish-style intro, but it was a little too long. That bassline at :42 I feel like I've heard a million times before, and it got a little repetitive, but I like what you did with the song at 1:37 with the different-sounding melody. I like how you kept the energy up and added some more layers to it later on, and I like the melodic section at 2:59. Your transitions in general were okay, maybe a little cliche, but progressive trance isn't my favorite genre, so I understand. ;) I like the melodic twist you put on the bassline towards the end, and the ending in general was nice and tranquil. Hope I didn't come across as too critical- maybe this piece just isn't my style- but good work overall. :)

Dj-B345T responds:

Thanks for the review.

1. Yeah, the bassline might be a little cliche, but I think that it fits the genre pretty well and I really like the 8 bar length instead of the usual 4.

2. The melodic sections are actually my favorite parts of this song to be honest, that is why I had 3 of them including the ending.

Thanks again for the review, I hope you check out some of my other tracks and give me your advice/opinions on those as well.

Beautiful chords at the beginning. They really caught my attention! You used beautiful instruments in general! Wow! The transition at :54 was a little rough for me, but the part after that was good itself. Maybe a more gradual transition is suitable there. In general, excellent melodies and emotion. The effect at 3:28 was a nice touch, btw. I think you could've ended it better, however. I'm not a big fan of the fade-out endings- they never really add anything to a piece in my opinion. Anyway, in general, it's so emotional and warm, yet also rather engaging and ambitious. Excellent work! :D

ErikMcClure responds:

I very rarely use fade out endings, but in this case everything else just didn't feel right, especially because it fades in at the beginning. I did have most of the instruments terminate before the fade out, however.

I'm surprised you don't like the transition at 0:54, since it was carefully crafted and no one else has complained about it. I kind of wanted it to be a bit rough because its supposed to bring in some contrast so the entire song isn't just boring.

I liked the instrument you used for the chords, but I didn't like the distorted sounds and effects. That wierd synth/sci-fi effect that comes in around :44 seemed irrelevant and almost annoying to me. Sorry. It also wasn't really that relaxing for me, just strange, creepy, and ominous. Maybe you could use some less angry and bass-y instruments and slow down the tempo. It also might help if you transpose the whole piece to a cheerier key. Btw, it gets really repetitive by the end, and I don't like fade-out endings- they almost never add anything to the piece, and they come off as a little bit lazy. I'd suggest you should only use the effects at the very beginning or as transitional instruments, and try to come up with some variations on the "melody" at 1:02 to the end. Sorry to be so tough on you. Perhaps this piece simply isn't my style. Still, it has potential; it just seems incomplete right now. You should keep working on it. :)

I like the emotion, and the string-piano combo really helps you bring out that emotion. I also like how you slowed it down towards the end- makes me feel sad/sleepy (in a good way). However, I didn't think you needed that drum in there. It didn't really add anything to the piece in my opinion, and maybe even detracted from the emotional quality. Overall, a great soothing, emotional piece. :) This is why I wish there was more classical music on NG. :)

MasterCoyle responds:

Cheers man. The drum is in there because the first minute is a commission and she specifically asked for it (notice how I put it in as little as possible). Thanks very much and I hope to have more soon

I like the mood and the bass. It's really catchy and unique. I'm impressed that you recorded and played the drums yourself. I must say, however, I don't think the vinyl scratch was a fitting way to end the piece. The rest of the piece is so smooth, and it's just a little sudden. Maybe you could end it with a bass riff. I think the vinyl worked okay at :21, though, and I also liked the transition at :43 with the crash. Nice job overall! I like the mood and instruments. Keep up the good work! :)

Yay! :D I love the melody and harmonies, and the instruments you used really fit with the videogame theme. All the transitions were so smooth, and it was always really engaging and upbeat! :) This is amazing! I hope you keep making music! ;)
