I love the synths and the mood and the beat. It's very catchy and energetic and harmonious. I'm not too enthusiastic about the structure because it really could've used some more dynamic contrast, and 1:55 was the only spot where there was some structural relief. However, I do like how it really seemed to be going somewhere as a whole by 2:12. The melodies are nice, and it's a cool, feel-good sort of track. Overall, nice work! Keep at it, Bluebooblue! ;D

bluebooblue responds:

Thanks TD6!!! I really appreciate your reviews, I'm glad you felt the energy, cause that's what kept me going while making it, I wasn't really sure of what I was making xD

It's funny, you know? the way one can just grab a computer, a software and then sit and spit what one feels, I'm happy ;') hahaha

I like the instruments and mood. It was climactic and engaging and I like the electronic turn it started taking at around a minute in. It sounds a little simplistic at times, but overall it's a fun piece. I like the pulsing synth at around 2:37 and the combination of orchestral and mechanical electronic sounds, the epitome of a robots-take-over sort of movie! :D Good luck at NGADM! ;D

Wolftacular responds:

Haha, thanks, I tried to not make it simplistic so I'd be interested to hear which parts you thought were so and why! Glad you enjoyed it overall! Thanks for the feedback!

I love the mood and instruments! :D The structure was interesting. I like how there's apprehension in the beginning, then the section around 1:40 reminds me of a funeral, and then the apprehension returns at the end, as if there will be a sequel to this movie! XD Overall, it's a job well done! Good luck at NGADM! ;)

samulis responds:

Thanks! Good luck with your future work!

I love the instruments and mood. The intensity was huge! :D Sometimes, however ( :46,1:27, 1:38, etc.) I felt like it transitioned between moods a little too suddenly, and the structure was a little confusing, like you tried to squeeze a 15-minute long orchestral piece into 3 1/2 minutes. That said, I do especially like several of the isolated parts, including :46, 1:52, and 2:23. You definitely have a wide variety of emotions in here: sadness, apprehension, exhilaration, etc. An excellent track overall, though. I find myself craving a second movement! :3 Good luck at NGADM! ;)

headphoamz responds:

Oh thank ya! There are definitely several flavors to the piece, for sure. I wanted to make it longer! But the mix was just too time-consuming to go another day. Glad you enjoyed it; perhaps in the future Cthulhu will return! :)

Wow! :D This is amazing! I love all of the instruments and melodies and vocals and effects. The structure is cool, transitions are rock-solid, and I absolutely love that effect that first appears at 1:39. This piece is very rhythmic and energetic and funky and upbeat. The chill breakdown at 2:16 was cool too, and I like how you transitioned back into the refrain at 2:30. I don't know how you made that effect at the end where it began to sound really echo-y and distorted, but I loved it! :D Simply fantastic work. I rarely ever download songs instantly, but I'm going to have to make an exception! ^^

garlagan responds:

Nice review! Thanks man.
The effect at the end is an automated flanger with some reverb.
Cheers.

I'm not very familiar with Doctor Who or its theme, but I like this! :) The instruments are cool, and the structure is even somewhat interesting, even if it's only 60 seconds long. I like the instrument/effect at :49. The mood and melody are good. This would make a pretty cool loop. I can't exactly give you points for originality or uniqueness, but I'm looking forward to seeing some more original work by you, Greatest219. ;)

Greatest219 responds:

Thanks :D
Doctor who is a british TV series, its pretty awesome and you could check it out!
And btw if you come to my profile you can notice that the image says Smooth.
Well,Smooth. is my new name, this one was random when I was creating it :D
Cheers!!!

I love the instruments and atmosphere. :D Stylistically, it is a lot like your Round 1 submission. It's very funky and moody, though - I love it! :D The transitions were better than usual, and those melodies are overwhelmingly engrossing! The mixing is fantastic, btw - the part at 2:25 was really cool where it sounded like the frequency was oscillating really fast. It almost sounded like a wobble bass in dubstep, except not with a bass! XD The only thing I was a little disappointed about was the ending - fade-out endings just aren't interesting imo. I have no complaints about structure, instruments, or anything else, though. This is another amazing track, Johnfn! :D Your attitude about ZipZipper reminds me of Kor-Rune's attitude about Camoshark in Round 1 btw, and Kor-Rune made it to Round 2! I'm rooting for you, Johnfn, if you make it to Round 3 or not! ;D

johnfn responds:

Phew thanks! I'm glad that all my work with mixing and so forth paid off - it was really driving me pretty crazy. Haha, the midrange dubstep thing. I discovered that trick a few weeks ago while messing around and I thought it was really cool! So in this song I inserted a break there as an excuse to use it. ;-)

That's true, I do sound a little like Kor-Rune... but then again, Kor-Rune is Kor-Rune xD. ZipZipper is a cool guy though, so I'm looking forward to what he makes, no matter if it destroys me or not.

I knew the ending thing would come up! If I somehow find time, I may upgrade the ending to something slightly more interesting, but honestly a lot of groovy songs end with a fadeout - I feel like it suggests that the groove goes on, even after you've left.

Thanks a lot for the review as always. It's great to have some sort of validation after pouring a lot of hours into a song.

I love the mellow mood of it! Reminds me of my grandma's old farmhouse in rural Pennsylvania. :') The melodies at 1:05 are really beautiful, and the beat, while very unique, also helps with the progression of the piece. Excellent work, Johnfn! I still can't believe that this is a quick, 2-hour respite when it sounds like you've been working on it for ages! ;D

johnfn responds:

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it! After a lot of practice I've become able to sketch out an idea for a song really rapidly. It's all the little details that end up taking the bulk of the time. (Like that transition at 1:05 for instance... I'm surprised you didn't call me out on that xD)

The funny thing about the beat is that the melody I ended up with in the second half was in 3/4, which I almost never use. So I really had no idea what to do for the beat and kinda randomly did stuff until it sounded ok. heheh.

Thanks again for dropping by!
